CFF Happenings/November 2010

As we head into the holiday season, Coach Calipari wants to update everyone on a few exciting projects the Calipari Family Foundation is currently involved in.

“I hope all the citizens in the Big Blue Nation will remember those less fortunate during these holiday months,” Coach Calipari said. “I am constantly stressing to my team what an important role we must all take in the community and it’s at this time of year when that responsibility is at its greatest.”

Watch this site and CoachCal.com for holiday initiatives that Coach, Ellen and the Calipari Family will be taking part in.

For now, some thank yous and updates:

1. Thanks to all of you who have been scooping up the Coach Calz Crazy Brandz from local retailers and on-line. Version 1.0 Bandz were such a success that Version 2.0 were released last month and make for perfect stocking stuffers or gift add-ins. Special thanks to Pannell Swim Shop and WebMedley for all their efforts in creating these unique keepsakes that are still raising money for the CFFC, with a dollar from each pack sold going to the Foundation.

2. Coach Calipari along with local civic leaders and banking executives from Lexington and Louisville met in October to start planning the “Coach Calipari’s FisCal Responsibility Program: Financial Literacy for Youths.” Some incredible ideas and presentations were set forth and work is underway to initiate a pilot program or two in the Commonwealth over the next 6-8 months.

“This has been a vision that Ellen and I have held for several years and we are excited to be making progress to launching the program that will focus on teaching youngsters the value of saving,” said Coach Calipari. “We have some incredibly gifted and committed people involved and we look forward to sharing more details with all of the BBN as the program continues through development.”

3. We are currently accepting information packets from Children-focused 501C organizations that would like to be included in the first round of CFF charitable giving, which will be initiated after the new year. Interested groups can send details about their 501C – specifying how it helps children – to the attention of: David Scott, c/o UK Men’s Basketball, Joe Craft Center, 338 Lexington Avenue, Lexington, KY  40506-0604.

All packets will be kept on file and an as-yet-to-be-determined number of groups will be chosen to have CoachCal.com users vote on allocation of funds through a voting process. More details forthcoming both here and at CoachCal.com.
